Heavy Duty vs Signature Series - Which should I choose?
Signature Series is rated for engines up to 1000 HP and is our most advanced formula for modern emission diesels. It is capable of extended oil changed intervals up to 25,000 in light-duty diesel trucks or 600 hours. This is best for owners that find themselves getting oil changes often. If you are currently running conventional oil, it is not recommended to start practicing extended drain intervals with Signature.
Amsoil Heavy Duty is a great first-step for running Amsoil in your truck. Whether you have been running conventional or synthetic-blend oils, Heavy Duty is where you should start first with running Amsoil. It is rated for the factory drain interval and for engines that are no more than 200 HP over stock. If you want to practice extended drain intervals Diesel Oil Guy recommends starting on your third oil change using Signature Series.
How we rate 4X & 6X wear protection?
The oils are tested on a Detroit Diesel DD13 to measure cylinder scuff wear. When we compared the results of using the two oils, Signature provided 6X more protection than what a DD13 needs. While Heavy Duty provided 4X more protection over the DD13 requirements. Amsoil is invested in diesel protection and no where is that more proven than testing in large-displacement engines.
